  • Me along Jeffers Rd, just south of the horse center. I thought it would be interesting to compare the size of the roots on this tree to me. Some of the trees were uprooted and some were snapped in half.

  • Field across from Horse Rider Center - the Blue Grosbeak location. Note the two trees on the right - the one is leaning over and the other is damaged badly. Blue Grosbeaks were frequenting these trees the prior day.

  • Horse Rider Center, amazing how these trees were saved. This was in the path of the tornado. Looking towards Jeffers Rd. The previous two pictures would be behind you if looking this direction.

  • The bridge on the paved road just south of the lodge. This road is always closed to vehicles - it's for walkers and bicycles. Would be lined up with Wilkins Rd. View looking south southwest.

  • Would be Wilkins Road - road is normally closed to vehicles - just south of the Lodge - This area was full of trees and very shaded. Amazing how much damage was done. The tornado went across the southern part of the park. It appears the tornado went through the part south of Oak Openings Parkway and Reed Rd.

  • Not much remains - again this was full of thick trees. It makes you wonder what the wildlife did when the tornado hit. There is always a nice variety of birds that are found in this location. I wonder what will remain now that the habitat has changed. I did hear an Indigo Bunting singing and saw a chipmunk. Notice too the flooding from the nearby creek.

  • If you took this picture the day before you would not be able to see any of the sky due to the trees.<br />
If you normally don't take cover when the sirens go on, hopefully after looking at these you'll change your mind and in the future take cover.
